Retired Life

Hello everyone,

First a link from my sponsors. https://t-adbar.com/_wozu

Yes! I did retire from work at age 67! Hooray! Now I have all the time I want to do nothing. Well maybe that is not quite true.

I thought that when you retire the world opens up to you and you can travel the world. As life is always ready to let you know, complications get in the way. My Mom is 97 and I am 67 and healthy. My mom still lives by herself with many visitors stopping in to check on her. As her son I am her number one visitor. I am also the closes sibling to her with a 2 mile commute. The other 5 siblings live from an hour away to all the way across the USA.

How does a care taker take care of mom and also travel the world. You explore parts of the world that are closer to you. From your own state and region to a short trip to Charleston SC. Day trips are easy. Mom can gather a meal and visit the bathroom herself. When I did a 4 day trip to Charleston SC I had a friend/care giver come in and check on mom. This was a paying job for her as she was able to stop in multiple times during the day. Paying for a care giver give me peace of mind that mom is cared for and Paul can travel a bit. Good combination.

My next short trip is to Portland Maine for a long weekend. I have a square dance convention to attend. This time I will higher an agency to watch over mom for the long weekend. Again paying for peace of mind and care coverage is worth every penny.

Did I mention that I am getting a divorce? Did I mention that I sold my house of 40 years? Did I tell you I have a chunk of money to invest? NO? Another topic for another blog posts.

Happy traveling
