Travel in New York

What is it like to travel during the Covid Pandemic. Not as bad as I thought but still scary at times.

This was a road trip covering 1600 miles and lots of upstate New York. Our first stop was Niagara Falls. Out of all the places we visited this was probably the highest Covid dangerous location. Niagara Falls is a huge tourist attraction even in the times of a national pandemic. I was hoping that tourist would follow Covid prevention precautions. Masks was only worn by 50% of the people walking around looking at the magnificent site of the falls.

Covid aside Niagara Falls is a great destination. You really need to stay more than three hours to really enjoy the area. I stayed three days and I still wanted more time. The falls during the day and then the falls illuminated at night. What a wonderful sight to compare. Day and night and the falls.

Observation points and observation towers. So many viewing points to see the falls. Every curve, every walk, every time you stop to look at the falls you are seeing the power of the falls and the power of nature. It is a beautiful sight.

Cave of the Winds or Maid of the Mist. Both bring you close to the falls for an up close and personal experience. I could not get on Maid of the Mist and I tried twice. I was able to experience Cave of the Winds on my first try. What an exhilarating experience. To feel the raw power of the falls as you get soaked from the actual water falling over you as you stand in the stream of the falls. WOW!

The next two stops on our two week road trip was the Finger Lakes and Saratoga NY. Both of these places had great places to visit. Watkins Glen Gorge is a river gorge with more waterfalls. Did the theme of the trip turn into a waterfall trip. Maybe. Lake George had boats and walks and yes more waterfalls.

Travel during Covid was a challenge. I am glad that I tackled the challenge and went for a two week road trip in Upstate New York. Some day we may be able to travel again with out the need for Face mask and six feet social distance. That day is not here yet.

Happy travels and stay safe.
