Orthopedic Boot

Hello everyone,

First a link from my sponsors. https://t-adbar.com/_wozu

Have you ever had the thrill of wearing an orthopedic boot? Have you ever experienced the ortho walk? If you have worn an orthopedic boot for even a short time, Welcome.

On January 10th 2022 I slipped and fell on some black ice. A couple of days later my experience started with the orthopedic boot. I had fractured my lower left fibula leg bone. Time to stop working and heal.

The next six weeks I lived in my recliner 24/7. I was officially out of work due to this leg injury. Since it was my left leg I did have some car mobility. That said it was just short trips to the store and back. I thought having six weeks off from work would be fun. Watch all the TV I want. Stay up all hours of the day and night. Just veg out and do nothing. Sounds like a great way to relax. Not!

The first couple of weeks I had some pain to deal with. Not a lot but enough to make life uncomfortable. I was always moving around trying to find a comfortable position. Then when I did get comfortable I would just fall sleep in my recliner. I was sleeping a lot both day and night. Guess that is the part of the healing cycle. Let that fractured fibula heal so you can get back to a normal life.

During this healing process I wore the orthopedic boot 24/7. Had to keep the leg immobilized so the fracture could heal. It was an awkward feeling but the boot was also comforting knowing that my leg was healing.

Wednesday March 30 2022, my boot was officially OFF! I had been recovering nicely. I was spending more and more time out of the boot. My Physical Therapist said I did a great job at recovery. I really worked that lag and ankle to get rid of the boot. I wanted to get back into my real world that involved dancing and traveling and working.

When did you ever break a bone? What was your experience with an orthopedic boot?

Stay safe and keep on traveling and dancing!
